APPLICATION PROCEDURES

 

 

Visiting students are welcome to apply to join us for a semester or a year.

 

Visiting students can only apply for an exchange period through their study abroad coordinator at their home university. Please note that we can only accept applications from students from our partner universities (please refer to the list of HU partner universities). On the application form the home university must be indicated including a contact person. The application should also be signed and stamped by your international exchange coordinator.

 

Support and assistance in application and registration

Before the beginning of the exchange semester, exchange students receive an "ECTS Guide" with a description of all English taught courses currently offered. Upon arrival a learning agreement must be handed in and can be adapted to your requirements.

 

Application form for international exchange students

The application form has to be filled in by students from partner universities who wish to study at the HU for a semester or year. It has to be sent in with a copy of your passport and two recent passport photo which will be used for student id cards, before the application deadline. Also check whether your nationality requires you to apply for a visa to study.

 

Application deadlines

Spring semester (starting February): 15th of November.
Fall semester (starting September): 1st of June.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

 

 

Speaking the language is essential to succeeding in your study! International students who enrol in one of our English-taught Bachelor’s or Master’s programmes must show proof of English proficiency through an English-language test. In a limited number of cases, exemptions can be granted. Students who apply for a Dutch-taught programme must pass the Staatsexamen NT2 programme II.


English-taught Bachelor Programmes

For international students enrolling in one of the English-taught Bachelor programmes, HU accepts one of the following documents as proof of English proficiency:

Certificate of IELTS(Academic)  6.0
Certificate fromCambridge ESOL  CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) or CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English)


 

Information on test dates, scheduling, and costs can be obtained at the respective websites of TOEFL, IELTS, or Cambridge ESOL. When taking a TOEFL or IELTS exam, please use the HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht institutional code of 9942 to request your results certificate to be sent directly to us.
