University of Sheffield

Application Procedure

How can I apply to be an incoming Erasmus student at the University of Sheffield?

In order for you to be able to apply, your home university must:

  • Have an active Erasmus exchange link with the corresponding academic department in Sheffield
  • Have nominated you for a place via our on-line nomination form

How can I see if there is an exchange agreement between the University of Sheffield and my home university?

Please consult our 'exchange universities' page for a full list of our Erasmus exchange links. Please note these are currently being updated for the 2013-14 academic year and are therefore subject to change.

Erasmus Exchange Links

Please note that Erasmus exchange links are between specific academic departments. They are not university or faculty wide.

Where are the nomination and application forms?

A link to the on-line nomination form is sent to your home university in early March each year. Nominations for the 2013-14 academic year are accepted from 01 March 2013.

Once you are nominated for a place by your home university, the International Exchanges team will automatically send you the link to the on-line application form.

You will not be able to receive the link until your home university has nominated you.

When are the application deadlines?

The application deadlines for 2013-14 are:

  • 28 June 2013 (Autumn arrivals)
  • 25 October 2013 (Spring arrivals)

What if I miss the deadline?

The International Exchanges team deals with around 500 incoming Erasmus applications each year. In order to maintain an excellent level of service to all our incoming Erasmus students, we need to be very organised.

For this reason, we have to be strict in rejecting nominations and applications which reach us after the given deadlines.

My home university has provided me with a paper application. Can I use this instead?

No, please use our on-line application form to ensure that your application is processed in the same way as all other incoming Erasmus students. Our office does not process paper application forms.

Help! I haven't received the link to the on-line application form!

If you have not received a link to the on-line application form by 14 June 2013 (Autumn arrivals) or 11 October 2013 (Spring arrivals), please contact the International Exchanges team immediately:

email : International Exchanges team

My home university does not have an Erasmus exchange agreement with the University of Sheffield. Can I still apply?

No. You can only apply as a fee-paying visiting student in that case.
